Tabitha and Mike are a young couple whose passion for giving your hound a fantastic and exhausting adventure has made Hound Hikes a dog walking service like no other! 

We also pride ourselves in providing you with beautiful photographs and social media updates of your pets- so you are able to check in throughout their hike and afterwards to see what a blast they have.

 

Your pet's safety and enjoyment is paramount, and is ensured by having well trained hikers that are qualified in pet first aid.

Tabitha and MIKE

Tabitha and Mike began Hound Hikes in Wellington in 2015, and since the beginning of 2018 they have been successfully establishing Hound Hikes in Hawkes Bay. Tabitha looks after all the administration for both regions and Mike sorts all the vans and keeps everything ticking over nicely.

Their passion for providing a fun and interesting experience for the dogs has ensured Hound Hikes is a stand out service that goes above and beyond for you and your pet. 

 

Brenna

Brenna is an immensely talented professional photographer who provides consistently stunning photographs of your hound after each hike. 

She has completed a pet first aid course, excelled in the hiker training with Mikey and is extremely competent and caring with the dogs. 

Harriette

Harriette is currently studying architecture at Victoria University of Wellington.

She loves walking the hounds, and this is reflected in the enthusiasm, attentiveness and care she provides them with. 

A fantastic photographer, it is clear to see from her images that the dogs are love her hikes as much as she does! 

 

Hike Details

A hiker will pick up your hound, take them on a 1 hour hike and drop them home again, giving them a rinse and towel dry if needed. Please leave a towel out for the hikers.

Your hound will be away from home from approximately 1.5 - 3.5 hours.  It all depends when they are picked up out of the 6 other hounds and where they go that day for their hike!

Hikes run Monday- Friday (depending on availability) with two hike times, morning or afternoon. 

The morning hike has a pick up of 8:15-9:15am.
The afternoon hike has a pick up of 12pm-1:30pm.

Group Hikes
Instinctively, dogs love to be in packs and thrive on exploring and racing around with each other. These hikes are therefore a wonderful way to keep your pet happy and healthy. All new hounds start the hike on lead and then graduate to off lead.

Small Hound Hikes
We also run specialised small hound hikes. These are great for smaller hounds to hoon about with other smaller hounds, without the fear of being bowled over by our over enthusiastic bigger hounds! These hikes are just great. It’s wonderful to see the smaller hounds hooning about with each-other and building their confidence. Please mention you’d like to attend one of our small hound hikes when you enquire with Tabitha.

Group hikes (including our small hound hikes) consist of about 4-7 dogs and are a great socialising time for your dog.

• All hikes are off leash from when they start until they finish, unless specified otherwise.

Payment Details

1-2 hikes a week = $45 per hike

3-4 hikes a week = $40 per hike

5 hikes a week = $37 per hike

Another hound from the same family is $25 extra.
