Tabitha and Mike are a young couple whose passion for giving your hound a fantastic and exhausting adventure has made Hound Hikes a dog walking service like no other!
We also pride ourselves in providing you with beautiful photographs and social media updates of your pets- so you are able to check in throughout their hike and afterwards to see what a blast they have!
Meet the team
The growth of Hound Hikes in Wellington allowed the creation of a Hawkes Bay branch, established in early 2018.
Tabitha will liaise with you to ensure the hikes are a good fit for you and your pet. In turn, Mike provides beautiful shots of the hounds in action on a variety of awesome hikes in the region.
Introducing Michael Sharp to the Hawkes Bay Hound Hikes dog walking team! We're stoked to have Michael on board. He's confident and capable with the hounds and is pet first aid certified. He manages to take a few hikes with us and wrangles his two young children the rest of the week 😜
Also introducing Sarah Dyer to the Hawkes Bay Hound Hikes dog walking team! Sarah is in her final year at Massey University to become a Veterinary Technician. Sarah is experienced and knowledgeable with the hounds and an asset to the team. She has excelled in the dog walker training and we are so happy to have her on board! 🤗
Pricing
All hound hikes include a 1 hour hike, pick-up and drop-off and a rinse and towel dry if need be. Please leave a towel out for the hikers. For the hike, your hound will be away from home for 1.5-3.5 hours (depending on where they go and if they are picked up/dropped off last or first).
Hikes are available Monday- Friday (depending on availability) with two hike times, morning or afternoon. The morning hike has a pick up of 8:30-10am and drop off 11:30am-12:30pm. The afternoon hike has a pick up of 1pm-2pm and a drop off of 3:30pm-5pm.
1-2 hikes per week = $42 per hike
3-5 hikes per week for = $37 per hike
Another hound from the same family is $25 extra.
These group hikes consist of about 4-7 dogs and are a great socialising time for your dog. Instinctively, dogs love to be in packs and thrive on exploring and racing around with each other. All hounds start on leash and graduate to off leash when they’ve passed a few recall tests. Hikes are off leash from when they start until they finish, unless specified.
